We have many veterans at Drexelbrook Catering, just like any other employer with a cross section of America and we take this opportunity to say Thank You. Equally important and in the true meaning of this holiday let us stop and remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice so we can be the people we are today.
Here are a few statistics I found that may bring the significance of Memorial Day into focus:
* An estimated 1,156,000 Americans have given their life in combat since the Revolutionary War
* Their have been 471 wars since the Revolution that the U.S had some involvement with. Maybe not a combat role, but involvement
* In Gulf War #1 Their were 149 Killed in Action
* There are over 59,960 names on The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall
* There are still an estimated 10,000 MIA from Vietnam
* There were over 33,000 U.S troops killed in Korea
* There were 291,557 listed Battlefield Deaths in WWII and 113,842 other Military Deaths
* Of the 464 Medal of Honor Winners in WWII 266 were posthumously issued
* WWII Vets are dying at a rate of approximately 1,100 per day
* There are an estimated 2,475,967 current U.S Service People (Active & Reserve) standing guard over our borders, safety and freedom
Let Us Remember Those Who Are Gone In Our Prayers. Let Us Honor Them In Our Actions By Saying Thank You To Those Who Have Served And Are With Us Now And Those Who Are Currently Serving
Happy Memorial Day from the Drexelbrook Catering family and a heart felt Thank You to all those who have served. I have attached a link to a picture that may best sum up the sacrifice of all those who have given everything and their families who they left. Please be aware it is an emotional picture.
