On Saturday, March 12, 2011 Franks Union Wine Mart in Wilmington Delaware held is 14th Annual "Golden Wine Event" It was held at Harry's Savoy Grill after a last minute cancellation at Hotel Dupont You would have never known that change took place by sampling the creative and quality menu produced by the Chefs and staff at Harry's Savoy. Chefs Leo David Banks and Patrick D'Amico matched the incredible wines (over 132 wines to taste & enjoy) with equally incredible foodsThe room was laid out in pods which featured foods and wines from various regions including: Spain, Italy, France, California & Pacific Rim and Australia and Argentina. Some of my favorites were the perfectly prepared Pan Seared Scallops with Crispy Fried Ham, White Bean Spread & Cilantro as well as the Escargot "Cafe de Paris" with Toasted Brioche and the Tempura Natural Pink Shrimp with Siracha Aioli and Apple Gelee.
The foods perfectly paired with the selected wines made for an incredible flavor filled night. The entire team at Harry's Savoy rose to the occasion on short notice and created an incredible evening.
I am not even sure where to begin with my for favorite of the 132 wines that were offered that evening. It was clear why many guests decided to stay at a nearby hotel and be shuttled over. (Of course Frank supplied wine & champagne on the shuttle)
The wines were offered at discounted prices that evening and a large portion of the proceeds from the event are donated to the Childrens Tumor Foundation. Frank Pagliaro is an incredible supporter of many charities and one of the most generous business people in the industry.
