Drexelbrook Catering is a proud supporter and participant in the National Foundation For Celiac Awareness and their wonderful fundraiser and educational program "Appetite for Awareness". This years event was held at the Philadelphia Naval Base Cruise Ship Terminal on October 24th. A beautiful day greated the 2000 plus attendees who came to learn & sample incredible gluten free foods created by many of the city's top restaurants.
Celiac Disease strikes 1 in 133 Americans and most is undetected and untreated. Celiac Disease is an autoimmune disease that affects the digestive process of the small intestine. This years event featured Chef Demonstrations from Drexel University Chefs & George Perrier as well as a Marketplace and Family Fun Pavilion. Over 20 restaurants and caterers participated in the cooking spree and attendees were asked to vote for their favorite foods in the "Peoples Choice" award program. Drexelbrook Catering was proud to have finished in second place just a few votes shy of "The Palm" Restaurant. With a virtual whose who of restaurants, this is a great honor indeed. Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes (Made with a rice cracker binder)
Roasted Corn & Poblano Chili Salsa
Fruit & Tomato Gazpacho (Perfect hint of fresh jalapeno)
The vastness of the cruise ship terminal was filled with balloons and floral from the event producer Eventricity. Miss Teen Pennsylvania, Swoop & The Eagles Cheerleaders greeted guests and the family fun pavilion was filled with smiles and fun from the activities provided by Eric Walker.
Drexelbrook Catering has a complete line of Gluten Free menu options and will be happy to customize a menu for any style event. Attending or hosting a catered event no longer needs to be a stressful situation if you utilize an NFCA certified caterer.
