Duportail House

Few venues say romance more than Duportail House in Chesterbrook. Built in 1740 this stone farm house is on the National Registry of Historic Places.  It was once the Quarters of Brigadier General Louis Lebeque Duportail the engineer responsible for much of The fortification's of Valley Forge during General George Washington's encampment. Drexelbrook Catering is fortunate to be on the preferred vendors list and a valued business partner of Duportail House.
We invite you to stroll through the three acres of landscaped grounds and experience this unique pastoral setting for indoor and outdoor events. DuPortail (Du-Por-tie') House at Chesterbrook  can accommodate small or large parties (to 200) people depending on usage and time of year. The first floor of the stone farmhouse, country gazebo and grounds are available for all your catered occasions. The outdoor patio is tented March - November.



You will delight in the home's 18th century ambiance and your hosts’ gracious Chester County hospitality. The DuPortail House has all the warmth of its heritage;  thick stone walls, wide-planked floors, deep window sills, original moldings and fireplaces, curving hallways and an inviting front porch. 


This is the perfect unique facility for any special occasion such as wedding ceremonies, receptions and intimate dinner parties.  A perfect location for corporate off-site meetings, the DuPortail offers wireless Wi-Fi throughout its 270 year-old walls along with the special ambiance of 'days gone by.
Other amenities include air conditioning, free parking and a private upstairs sitting room for the bridal party. DuPortail House is handicapped accessible and less than one mile to the nearest overnight accommodations.  


Drexelbrook Catering is proud to support Duportail House and we love create menus that feature locally produced cheeses, produce and foods including Yellow Spring Farms Cheeses.
We are very excited to be catering several events there in the upcoming season including "Women Of Weddings" Networking Event on December 7th (See November 11,2010 Blog Posting) and several wonderful artisinal weddings in 2011.

Monday-Thursday: $125/hour 4hr min. Evening: $175/hour 4hr minimum

 Local nonprofit organizations should inquire about reduced rates.
Security Deposit:
$500.00 Security Deposit due at the time of contract signing. The Security Deposit is placed in an escrow account and is returned within 30 days following your event, assuming no damage.
Curfew:Friday & Saturday: Midnight
Sunday – Thursday: 10 PM
Additional Information:
The Duportail includes the use of the first floor of the house, grounds and outdoor gazebo, second floor sitting room, tables (8-60" seating 8-10 people, 10-48" seating 6-8 people, 7-36" seating 2-4 people plus 2 hi-tops and 8-six-foot banquet tables,) 150 white fanfare chairs, and full kitchen.  A 20' X 30' white frame tent with rolled sides covers the patio from April until December (seats up to 60 guests). An extra charge is applicable during the cooler months when the tent is heated. 
Valet parking attendants (required for events of 50 or more cars) are arranged for by DuPortail House and are invoiced to the Lessee.   
Only one event is scheduled per day at the DuPortail.  Self-decorating will only be permitted if arranged for in advance. Any damage assessed to DuPortail House (smoke damage from candles, nicks in walls, etc.) will be withheld from client’s Security Deposit.

  In addition to the 5-hour event, caterers are allowed 2-hour set-up and 1 hour clean-up times.
